The following is a list of features introduced since version 5

soon realised that our user community is so varied, we were better
to show them all and let you choose your own top 10.The features
have been grouped into broad program areas which you can quickly
go to by clicking on one of the links below. Along side each feature
you will find the version number for when it was introduced along
with a brief description of how this feature can help you. Where

Task
component management
Feature
Vers
How it helps you
Inactive components
8.5

a single task component. Typically, a database contains many
task components that are no longer in use, but retained for
historical purposes. You can designate unused task components
as Inactive to help limit the selections.
Delete referenced items for task components

a Date Added custom field for date values at the client level,
you can then indicate the date you began working for each
client.
Maintain Groups per Component
6.5
Use the Groups button in the component dialog box to determine
the groups to which a specific component belongs. You also
retain the ability to manage groups by group name.

How it helps you
Create a custom Approval process
9.0

their group manager. The group manager can then track, manage,
and update the status of time sheets.

are listed in the Select Employee Names dialog box when you
click the Employee button to log into Sage TimeSheet.
Copy security profiles
8.5
Copy the security settings in an existing
security profile to an open security profile.
Complete and encrypted system information
8.5
Use the E-mail Technical Support dialog box
to send a message to the Technical Support department. In
addition to your message, our Technical Support department
will automatically receive an encrypted attachment of the
information listed in the About Sage TimeSheet dialog
box of your program. This information is encrypted to assure
that any proprietary information cannot be read by unauthorised
personnel.
Task rule filter
8.5
You may have tasks in your database that do
not satisfy the criteria you set in your task rules, or tasks
created prior to defining task rules. You may not want employees
to see such tasks in data entry views. You can hide tasks
not meeting task rules.
Upgrading database requires password
8.0
This feature will prevent users from accidentally
upgrading a database. Sage TimeSheet now requires
the installation password when upgrading.
Limit content in About dialog box
8.0
Use the Security Profile dialog box to prevent
users from viewing potentially sensitive information in the
About Sage TimeSheet dialog box.
Prevent logins from changing settings
7.0
New security settings in the Setup area of
the Security Profile dialog box allow you to prevent logins
from changing settings for Select View, printing options,
Operational Preferences, and pay calculations.
Group security improvements
7.0
A security profile may now contain a list
of groups. A login using the profile may only see data for
employees within the groups for that security profile. This
allows an organisation's management hierarchy to be closely
modelled within the Sage TimeSheet security system.
Prevent users from editing entries
5.0
This new security feature is used to
prevent employees from editing existing time or expense entries.
This allows, for instance, an administrator to be sure that
users do not modify timed entries.
Separate security for entry status fields
5.0
This new feature adds a separate security
setting for each entry status field. Fields for which a user
does not have rights will be disabled.
New Database password
5.0
Now accidental or purposeful
database creation requires a password. The purpose of this
feature is to prevent people from overwriting existing databases.

Cross-month pay period
9.0
The administrator can now define a pay rule
in which the pay period ranges from the 16th of the month
to the 15th of the following month where needed
Calculate overtime weekly
8.7
This option allows Sage TimeSheet
to calculate overtime hours based on the actual number of
weeks within the pay period regardless of the type of Pay
period.
Overtime start day
8.7
This option works with the Calculate overtime
weekly option and determines the weekday on which Sage TimeSheet will start calculating overtime hours.
Prorate pay calculations

8.7
The methods available are the Fixed Hours
and the Workday Counting method.
Maximum hours exception

employees enter time that exceeds the maximum daily value
you specify.
Define custom semi-monthly pay periods
7.5

You can split semi-monthly pay periods on
any day you want. Use the Pay Rule Definition dialog box
to define the details of the pay period.
Show pay period totals on the Time Sheet View

In the period totals column-the column to
the far right of the Time Sheet View-you can optionally show
pay period totals instead of totals for all visible cells.
Set this option in Operational Preferences.

Use the Entries area of the Security Profile
dialog box to determine if employees can edit entries outside
of the current pay period.

Required Hours page of the Pay Rule Definition dialog box
to set up exception rules.

Use the Define Column dialog box, when creating a Summary
report, to include payroll calculation values.
The new "two pass" pay calculation
5.0
Now you can calculate
a pay condition first, regardless of where in the week the
time entry falls. With this feature, any pay condition can
be marked as "do first", so this time is allocated
before "normal" time. This allows allocating vacation
pay that falls at the end of a week before regular time is
allocated.
Linking pay rules
5.0
A pay rule is a formula for calculating employee
pay by comparing hours worked against a set of classifications.
Many variables are taken into account in a pay rule definition,
including rates (for example, time-and-a-half for overtime),
pay periods (for example, weekly or semi-monthly), and the
types of days on which entries can fall (for example, weekends
and holidays). Sage TimeSheet now allows you to link
pay rules. This feature was designed for special circumstances
such as the California pay rules.
Calculate Pay from the command line
5.0
With the use of relative dates, you
can set up an icon to automatically calculate each week’s
payroll through the use of a command line parameter.
Calculate Pay using "this weeks"
Dates
5.0
Calculate pay using this week’s dates
automatically, rather than keying in the dates each week.

Generic Text Import/Export

characters for file names, and export empty (null value)
fields.

Use the Import page of the Data Exchange Template
Definition dialog box to select specific task and component
fields to update instead of overwriting an entire record.
Import an unlimited number of groups
8.0

You can customise links in the Data Exchange
Template Definition dialog box to merge groups into the existing
list, instead of overwriting all the groups a component is
already in.
Data exchange overwrites affect only specific
fields
7.5
You can update specific fields when performing
data exchange. For example, set up a link to update a specific
field like an employee's rate.
Remote files are numbered when received from
TimeSheet Remote
7.5
This feature prevents you from importing a
TimeSheet Remote file twice. Once the file is successfully
imported, Sage TimeSheet changes the extension of
the TimeSheet Remote file to a number. For example, the first
file imported is named AaronLaw.001 and the second one imported
is named AaronLaw.002
Automate data exchange routines with job polling
7.0
Administrators can define a job as the process
of exchanging data by file or email. Each job consists of
details such as the type of job, the data exchange template
to use, and the frequency of the exchange. When you set a
computer to 'job polling' mode, it will automate the data
exchange process as set in the job schedules. You can also
chain jobs together, so when one job completes successfully,
the next job will begin.

access SQL databases. This means you can create a Sage TimeSheet database on your choice of database server,
taking advantage of its features. Many of the most popular
database types are supported, including Microsoft Access,
Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle 7, and Sybase 11
Multiple .INI database configuration files
